Black Moon Lilith Transits in Gemini

18/Jul/2021 to 14/Apr/2022 (MEAN and Main Node)

05/Dec/2020 to 02/Dec/2022 (OSCILLATING and Additional Node)

By Vanessa Guazzelli

Black Moon Lilith (mean node) entered Gemini, the sign of thinking, information and communication.

In the Mutable Air sign, Black Moon Lilith opens us to the telepathic airwaves, the viscerality of communication, the undercurrent of words, and information held in the likes of an image of the dark metal’s dimension in a mirror’s reflection.

She ingresses to Gemini in a partile square with Jupiter, amping up the complex theme of truth and information seeking during our current times.

Soon conjuncting the North Lunar Node, already in Gemini, BML points directly to the importance of Voltaire’s basic advice: “Dare think for yourself.” The North Node in Gemini emphasizes the need to question and allow for different points of view, so we can discern. Black Moon Lilith’s conjunction to it in September 2021 makes the need for questioning even more radical. Freedom of speech and freedom of press become, more than ever, pressing issues.

Mirrors, mirrors… the Other and the Big Brother

Interestingly, not only George Orwell in his astrological chart and the chart of the publication of Nineteen Eighty-Four had significant placements in the sign of Gemini, but also his Black Moon in Capricorn (structures) was in the III house, which is the one correlated to Gemini, being the house of words, thoughts and communication. Hence he was very perceptive of the “dark metal” behind words and structures of communication.

In the element of Air, BML speaks of either a lack or an excess of the other – in many possible senses of the word. In this sign of siblings, colleagues and neighbors, the Back Moon will be, in one way or another, viscerally mobilized by the other – be it with a capital O (the great Other, as a reference or as a projection) or in lowercase letters (the little other next door).

It might manifest as a difficulty to accept the other and to legitimize another’s existence. It can also signify being so mobilized by another, viscerally driven to understand and decode to the extent of being invasive, including at the level of thoughts. This is the BML of telepathy.

There’s a visceral drive to penetrate and understand the other, as well as a visceral perception of the otherness in words and communication. Dirty words, odd words, reversed words – in either form or meaning. Street smarts is what it’s about.

Lunfardo

Lunfardo is a vernacular that originated in the peripheral areas of Buenos Aires, at the turn of the 20th century, often cited as coming from the Argentinian underworld as a way for criminals to communicate and bypass the authorities, a means to dodge surveillance using new words, reversing and reinventing them – similarly to the French verlan. Know your Lunfardo:

GOTAN = tango

VESRE = revés (reverse, as in ‘back slang’, like verlan)

ZAPI = pizza

TORDOC = doctor

MINA = menina [Pt.] (girl, woman)

LONPA = pantalón (trousers)

LABURO = lavoro [It.]

FACCIA = faccia [It.] (face)

YECA = calle (street)

In fact, it emerged as street smarts in the lives of immigrants of varied origins, mostly influenced by Italian dialects blended into Spanish, with varied traces of Indigenous, African, and Brazilian expressions. With its expressions appearing in tango songs, Lunfardo easily spread around the La Plata River region, including Montevideo. Nowadays, a considerable amount of Lunfardo has merged into the current Argentinian Spanish.

The compulsion for words has served a few renowned authors in their creative endeavors. A life time of writing was not enough to express the complete extension of Karl Marx’s work, very attentive to contradictions. Nonetheless, that which has been expressed is not only quite extensive but also undeniably impactful. The visceral drive of a narrator trying to become a writer brings into existence Michel Proust’s master piece In Search of Lost Time, abundant in words with its many volumes. Spinoza, Nietzsche, Hannah Arendt – such questioning minds all had the Black Moon in Gemini, as well as Giorgio Agamben, so moved by the archeology of words.

On the other hand, Charlie Chaplin’s visceral communication could do without words. Be it through the lack or the excess of words, BML in Gemini’s challenge can be overcome when the viscerality of communication is converted into talent. This penetrating mirror-like quality of Black Moon in Gemini can also contribute to outstanding talent in acting, giving performances a somewhat more personal edge that reaches the other across the screen in an unpretentious yet penetrating way. To name a few: Marlon Brando, Marcello Mastroianni, Lauren Bacall, Jean-Paul Belmondo, Kim Novak, Javier Barden, Ingrid Bergman.

Whilst Ingrid Bergman stars in film noir Spellbound, Nina Simone sings she will put a spell on you! And Aretha Franklin simply spells it out: R.E.S.P.E.C.T.

How can letters, words and meanings be twisted around, either casting or reversing spells?

Language Games

Ludwig Wittgenstein was so viscerally driven by language, he first wrote the Tractatus, a philosophical work on the relationship between language and reality, which was to be highly influential on positivists. However, after having it published, he questioned his own book, considering it to be an incorrect take. He then shifted his focus from the logical necessity of language to its practical contingencies, appreciating the ambiguities and difficulties faced in every day practical use of language, rather then the formalization of all possible linguistic constructs.

In the Tractatus he frames language as a picture of the world. In his latter works, as can be found in his Philosophical Investigations, language is seen not as a picture, but a game. In his concept of language games, Wittgenstein observes how words can convey completely different meanings depending on the rules of a specific language game, how words don’t correspond to objects and the massage they communicate might be far removed from their descriptive signification.

Aware of the complexities in the use of language and how it can cloud up our understanding of the world, Wittgenstein affirmed: “Philosophy is a battle against the bewitchment of our intelligence through language.”

Black Moon Lilith in Gemini points to the importance of unclouding our understanding of the world, by the ability to question and think freely – and speak up!

Here‘s Terry Jones, telling it like it is: Brian is NOT the Messiah, “he’s a very naughty boy!” Terry is also the one to know “witches are made of wood!”.

Censorship and the Unacceptance of Otherness

Julian Assange’s imprisonment for publishing information and exposing the truth of war crimes is viscerally moving. The issue is not at all new, but do expect it to became yet more pressing. In such times, how consequential is the criterion stressed by Voltaire: “The right for free speech is more important than the content of the speech.”

Furthermore, beware also of those affirming witches are made of wood and treacherously test if they weigh the same as a duck only to justify burning them.

In the the ample spectrum of Black Moon in Gemini, we find also natives such as Augusto Pinochet, Adolf Hitler, Emmanuel Macron.

The AI5 in Brazil was enforced with Black Moon Lilith in Gemini. Institutional Act Number Five, the most infamous of all Institutional Acts by the military regime, resulted in the suspension of any constitutional guarantees, eventually institutionalizing torture. It allowed for preliminary censorship of music, films, theatre and television and the censorship of the press and of other means of mass communication.

It was also during around the time of a Black Moon in Gemini transit that the Idées républicaines, defending free thought and free expression, were produced. This political pamphlet by the French philosopher Voltaire was published anonymously and undated, but is thought to have been written in late 1765 – so in the transition between the Gemini and the Cancer transit.

It was during the previous BML in Gemini that Ed Snowden gathered all the NSA info. Its revelations came right at the transition of BML into Cancer, the sign of the nest – when, suddenly, the whole world became aware there was no privacy. BML in Gemini has an awesome radar for hardcore info.

In Copernicus’ dedication of On the Revolutions to Pope Paul III—which he hoped would dampen criticism of his heliocentric theory by those actually ignorant of astronomy – he wrote that, in rereading all of philosophy, in the pages of Cicero and Plutarch he had found references to those few thinkers who dared to move the Earth “against the traditional opinion of astronomers and almost against common sense.”

Get ready for vertigo – a great movie to (re)watch during this transit, in fact. With Gemini Black Moon queen, Kim Novak.

More than ever, we must know how minds are set and how words, and with them the perception of the world, can be twisted around – or straightened out.

BML IN GEMINI MAIN TRANSITS

The partile square to Jupiter at the ingress is surely something to keep in mind throughout this 9-month period, as it amps up the complex theme of truth and information seeking during our current times. Being in mutable sign, the other and the respect to the other’s existence is highlighted as a core issue – beware of prejudice.

Conjunction to North Lunar Node –  1-13 Sep, exact on 7 Sep, at 5º 39 Gemini – “dare think for yourself.”

Solar Eclipse conjunct Mercury and opposite BML – 4 Dec, at 12º Sagittarius; and 15º Sagittarius/Gemini. The Black Moon in Gemini issues addressed in this article become even more significant, as its presence in this eclipse indicates.

Square to Neptune – 14 Jan – 7 Feb, exact on 26 Jan, at 21º Gemini/Pisces. Massive deception. The importance of piercing through the fog.

The DISPOSITOR is Mercury, the ruler of Gemini, hosting BML in his sign for the current transit. The moves of BML’s dispositor are always key, as both the dispositor and the Black Moon influence each other – the dispositor anchors this virtual astrological point, and BML provides to its dispositor her viscerality and a more potent edge. Hence, all Mercury aspects can relate to BML in some way during this time. The basic ones to watch for are:

Mercury Retrograde – Sep 27 to Oct 18, 2021: 25º-10º Libra;

Jan 15 to Feb 3, 2022: 10º Aquarius – 24º Capricorn.

Mercury Ingresses – Leo, 27 Jul; Virgo, 11 Aug; Libra, 30 Aug; Scorpio, 5 Nov; Sagittarius, 24 Nov/2021; Capricorn, 6 Jan; Aquarius, 14 Feb; Pisces, 10 Mar; Aries, 27 Mar; Taurus,11 Apr/2022.

Mercury trine BML and square Lunar Nodes – Mar 6-8. Possible informational breakthroughs.
