Apr 14, 2022 to Jan 8, 2023 (Mean and Main Node)

Dec 22, 2021 to Jul 12, 2023 (Oscillating and Additional Node)

June 23, 2022

The transit of the astrological point we call Black Moon Lilith is super sharp in revealing what is going on in the collective undercurrent during a certain period in time.

The Mean (and main) Node of Black Moon Lilith transits now in Cancer, the sign of home and intimacy, children and family, nation and belonging, feelings and affections, hunger and nourishment. These are the themes instigating instincts and stirring up the collective undercurrent, to which bodies respond.

The Black Moon in water signs speaks of an incessant fluidity. In the case of Cancer, a fluidity of the basic instinct of hunger – be it physical or emotional. Body and psyche are more viscerally moved by the need or desire for food and shelter.

Black Moon Lilith is now in the sign of home, which is also the Moon’s domicile, for this sign is ruled by the Moon. However, the sign of Cancer is NOT the Black Moon’s domicile, but rather her exile, since her astrological dignity (technical term indicating either the most comfortable or the most uncomfortable placements for an astrological point to be in the Zodiac) is exactly opposite to the Moon’s. Therefore, whilst the “White” Moon’s domicile is Cancer, the Black Moon’s domicile is Capricorn. That is to say this is not exactly the easiest of placements for her to be in, as she challenges the Cancerian comfort – and comfort zone – bringing up and making evident that which might not be going so well in the home – or the nation, a bigger home.

This transit stirs up issues of belonging – where do I belong, where do I feel comforted and secure? It may relate to a place, to a person, a context, or a nation.

Somehow We’ll Find Our Way Home

The intrinsic strangeness of this position challenges our sense of home and intimacy. That which was not quite so homely or yet that which, for whatever reason, might have had its time and is no longer where we now belong and find nourishment, becomes inevitably evident and urges us to acknowledge and deal with it.

Some might have been inspired to move houses already ahead of this transit, and are now getting to know and develop intimacy with the new place. Some might have tried getting back to where they once were, not quite finding that sense of belonging there.

The Get Back Beatles’ documentary was release at the end of November 2021, just a few days before the Oscillating Node of Black Moon Lilith entered Cancer, on December 7. The Oscillating Node begins the ingress in the next sign a bit ahead, introducing the themes which are to be more explicit and impactful when the Mean (and main) Node arrives (in this case, April 14, 2022).

The Mean Node is the main transit. But is it accompanied by the Oscillating Node, which begins to jump into a sign some time ahead and some time after the main node – indicating both the introduction and the digestion of the main transit. Hence, the oscillating node can last 1,5 to 2 years, extending beyond the 9-month period of the mean, and main, node.

By the time the main transit began, the Black Moon in Cancer’s call could not be avoided and the necessity of tending to housekeeping issues, as well as visceral emotional needs, came forth.

The search for the homely, however, might also bring up the strangeness of the uncanny and that which, inside the home, had been swept under the rug. Moreover, stirring up that which is not ok in the Cancerian realm – of family, home, housing, and belonging – could be precisely what the doctor ordered, bringing an opportunity for the necessary changes which can put things into the place, bringing comfort and, perhaps, an unprecedented sense of belonging.

It was with Black Moon in Cancer that Buenos Aires was born, before Argentina came into existence as a country. Quite some time later, already as the Argentinian capital, it was in the streets of Buenos Aires.

It was with the Black Moon in the sign of Cancer that the city of Buenos Aires was founded, where, many years later, when already the capital of independent Argentina, stray immigrants from different cultures sought the containment of a stranger’s embrace, embracing strangeness and creating the dance, music and culture of tango – la danza del abrazo (the dance of the embrace).

Children, Family, Home

Family issues and childhood traumas could demand attention. Sensitivity becomes visceral and that does carry with it the potential for healing the psyche. Avoid causing traumas; tend to the wounds properly and they can be uprooted.

A time to be especially attentive to the safety of kids, as well as mothers. Beware of substances and intoxication, for the ingress of Black Moon Lilith in Cancer happened right with the partile conjunction of Jupiter and Neptune in Pisces. It is advisable to avoid the intake of dodgy substances during such transit, especially for kids.

As with just about everything, the spectrum of how and where visceral sensitivity – or the lack of it – might be applied is broad. In twisted, perverse versions of this placement, the strangeness of Black Moon Lilith in the sign of children could, in specific cases, speak of pedophilia. No wonder when the Sun conjuncted the Black Moon, Ghislaine Maxwell was sentenced for trafficking young women. The list of hers and Epstein’s clients, however, remains undisclosed. The issue, nonetheless, surfaces.

Joseph Biden happens to have Black Moon Lilith in Cancer, thus having the Black Moon return (a 9-year cycle) right after the USA’s Solar Return, on 4th of July. The fact that he is the United States’ president at the moment does ad to the astro mix. By synastry, Biden place Black Moon on the USA’s Sun – adding Black Moon strangeness to ruler’s position, indicated by a country’s Sun.

The USA has Venus, Sun and Jupiter in Cancer, and the Black Moon pays them all a visit now. Noteworthily, the United States Solar Return in the year of its Pluto Return has Black Moon in conjunction to the Sun. Moreover, the third and final hit of the USA’s Pluto Return, in December 2022, will occur with karmic Black Moon in opposition to power Pluto. The actual national issues stare the drive for world dominance in the face. And the collapse of empire is felt viscerally, no matter what the narrative is. Chickens come home to roost.

Food and Shelter

Something which has been considerably swept under the rug in some nations is the issue of housing. With the combination of the Black Moon in Cancer transit and the Lunar Nodes transit in Taurus (North Node) and Scorpio (South Node), where speculation has been abusively getting the upper hand, there will be trouble. 2022 and 2023 urge the issue of housing to be addressed.

Hunger and children – with BML transiting in Cancer, no baby formula! Shortages developed after Abbott recalled Similac and other baby formula in February made at its Michigan plant following complaints of bacterial infections in infants who consumed the products, in some cases fatal. Oscilating Node of Black Moon was already transiting in Cancer in February, and the shortages were occurring as the Mean Node advanced into this sign.

The issue of hunger and food supply comes forth in the collective with the lunar apogee transiting in the sign of nourishment – both emotional and physical.

“Nothing can cure the soul but the senses, just as nothing can cure the senses but the soul.” – Oscar Wilde

The Moon in astrology represents the soul, the Earth represents the body. Black Moon Lilith is the lunar apogee, a relation between Moon and Earth; and speaks of the very formation of the body and the integration – or lack of – between body and soul. Black Moon Lilith transiting in the sign of the Moon emphasizes the importance of physical well-being for our emotional balance. And vice-versa, the effects of emotions on our bodies. All lunar transits and issues have now that extra visceral edge to them. And the transits of each of them, Moon and Black Moon, affect each other.

Importantly, our personal Moons – the Moon’s position in our natal charts – is viscerally activated during the period of this transit. How do we currently respond to the viscerality of life? As our natal Moons, as the signs they are in.

Babushka Z and National Icons

Right when the Black Moon approached her ingress to Cancer, Babushka Z raised the flag belonging to her heart and roots. And not even food could bribe her into allowing her flag to be stepped on.

Patriotism and visceral belonging are also BML in Cancer themes and people born with this astrological placement can sometimes become icons to their nations or represent the nation and its people in some significant way, like Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi for Argentina, or Joan of Arc, or Yuri Gagarin.

In territorial Cancer we can find patriotism, but also learn of the dangers of some kinds of nationalism. Although BML in Cancer is not directly related to the perverse nazi ideology, it can operate with the signifier “nation”. Hence the importance of differentiating nationalism from actual patriotism and care for one’s nation and culture.

Oum Kalthum is such a huge national icon. She, in fact, does not only represent Egypt but is also considered The Mother of Arabs, with her voice crafted in meaning and melody in traditional Arabic aesthetics. Her Moon brooch could not be more emblematic of the mother and of the profound sentiment viscerally expressed through her her voice. No wonder theatres were packed with completely mesmerized audiences, immersed in her hour-long songs.

Cancer Black Moon Lilith natives can have such potent and moving voices, that either repel or viscerally attract, for the feelings expressed have a way of invading you. The potential to be affected, being highly sensitive; and the potential to affect, reaching others’ sensitivity all well. Oum Kalthum, Janis Joplin, Paul McCartney, Faye Wong are all BML in Cancer natives.

Where Do We Belong

The issue of belonging may very well relate to a nation, a culture, a world. Where and with whom do I belong? To what partnership, to what society, to what civilization? Those are highlights of the Moon being in the sign of relations during the ingress of BML in Cancer. The placement of the dispositor during an ingress is very telling – having been the Moon at 0º Libra, tensely squaring the Black Moon, it indicates how challenging a transit this one is, in the midst of the great transition into a new world-system. At one of the most acute moments of this transition, right when the Jupiter-Neptune conjunction happens and we navigate the dismantling of the world as we knew it, crossing into multipolar waters, facing yet dangerous challenges, Black Moon in Cancer square Moon in Libra speaks of how – at a deep, visceral level – we are resignifying home and belonging, not just personally, but also collectively.

It is super important now to take care of our nest, to make it as cozy and safe as possible. The comfort of intimacy is to be treasured, more than ever. Properly nourishing our bodies and our beings is key right now. It allows for better conditions in which we can better perceive and navigate the complexities of the current reality. Properly nourished emotionally, we nurture also this new world which is unmistakably being conceived and, through the challenges, coming into existence.

The Boys and Girls of the Multipolar World are spread around the globe. The new world in the making is where we all belong. We nest it in us. And nourish ourselves with it. Home is… where the heart is.
