January 6, 2022

The Full Moon lights up the sky on January 6, at 22:08 UTC – just in time for the Russian Orthodox Christmas, and for the Magi to reach Jesus (nowadays, having to find their way through the Israeli wall).

It’s the Cancer Full Moon and it does light up the love in our hearts, it makes our feelings more evident to us, and calls for gatherings and the sharing of affection.

If only the Ukrainian army would adhere to Russia’s truce for Christmas… instead of bombing Donetsk 30 minutes after the ceasefire began, bluntly showing the essence of what guides the Ukrainian Armed Forces and giving a clear clue of who, in reality, wants peace and love for the people.

Being the Moon Full at 16º Cancer, it is pretty close to the United States’ Sun, at 13º of this sign, and right on this day the US Supreme Court discusses whether the criminal case of the 9/11 conspiracy can be heard – pressures from the Pluto Return still highly active for this whole month and emphasized but the Sun-Pluto conjunction, both in the US transit and in the sky – Jan 16 to 19. And, also, touched by the Moon just before New Moon.

Mercury retrograde until Jan 18 gives us some time to reorganize the structures at whichever dimension of our lives this might be necessary, getting the logistics revised and in place, or simply reframing our mindset, so we are ready to move forward into the Year of the Rabbit (or Cat), starting in two weeks, on Jan 21.

Right now, the Cancer Full Moon hints at the horizons, as Sun and Moon flow nicely with Uranus (by trine and sextile). It also comes as a culmination of Black Moon’s transit in Cancer and her opposition to Pluto (especially on Saturday when the Moon does conjunct Black Moon and opposes Pluto. It is the grand Cancer transit finale, before Queen Black Moon enters Leo on Sunday, Jan 8. She is all about auteurship in personal lives and sovereignty in worldly matters.

Once she is on her righteous throne, the Retrograde boys will gradually begin to change gears into Direct motion: Mars on the 12, Mercury on the 18, and Uranus on the 22. Finally, after 2 long months of Mars retrograding in Gemini, it will be Martial forward time, especially after Gemini-ruler Mercury is also Direct. And even more so with future-oriented Uranus also unleashed.

The Uranus-ruled Aquarius New Moon on Jan 21, at 20:52 UTC, 1º Aq, takes us into the future, opening the Chinese New Year and giving us a glimpse of the huge Pluto in Aquarius transit, which begins to take place next March.

Moreover, the specific signature of this month’s New Moon is Black Moon in Leo’s sharp opposition to it, highlighting the importance of auteurship and of sovereignty in the Year of the Cat.

Albeit, before we move into new ground, it is vital we pay proper attention to our hearts, our feelings and the more up-close and personal aspects of lives, as this lays the foundation from which we are to move into the future.

After its peak, as the Watery Full Moon sails to a lovely trine to Neptune, we may hear the muse sing.

like the three kings
in galilee
followed the divine wherever it were to be
 I’ll follow you
as a caravel navigates the sea

sweet sun through the window
makes me think there’s only love
brightens the painter’s life
in beautiful lighting
from the skies above

like the three kings
in galilee
we will, here, reach Thee
 I’ll follow you
as a caravel navigates the sea
