The Chinese yuan is now the new world reserve currency. Not just a, but the reserve currency. The upgrade in its status comes informally, through a verbal seal of approval, a recommendation by none other than Russian President Vladimir Putin.
During the public pronouncements of Tuesday’s official meeting between the two Eurasian leaders in Moscow, President Putin informs that two thirds of trade turnovers between Russia and China are being settled in rubles and yuan, and states:
“We stand for using Chinese Yuan in settlements between Russian Federation and countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America.”
And the multipolar world, hearing the trumpets of a new era, pays attention. So this is the path to follow now on our journey, as we head for a new system which is still in the making. We can trade in national currencies, and we have the Chinese yuan – or renminbi, the “people’s money”.
As the Dollar loses its Aura
The proposition is timely, as the dollar now loses its aura, its reliability being seriously questioned.
In 2022, US treasury bonds ongoing dumping and record gold purchase by central banks were already sounding the alarm. The petrodollar started to shiver, watching Gulf countries strengthen relations with China and seeing the Saudis stress – right at the World Economic Forum – their willingness to accept other currencies for oil payments, and not just the dollar. And then came the sign of the times between Saudi Arabia and Iran, contributing to peace and stability in West Asia, which does not favour conflict-based US dominance in the petrodollar’s region. Yet, if that wasn’t enough, last week’s bank failures came to give a helping hand in dismantling the ‘reserve currency’ aura of the dollar. And the sobering effects, concerning the (un)reliability of the dollar, spilled over to the general population.
The US Federal Reserve has just printed yet more money to bailout rich oligarchs, a gift of 300 billion dollars. The United States’ public debt is now over 31 trillion dollars – it is the world’s biggest debtor, with a huge debt. And now the American banking system is in crisis. Or, should we say, 2008’s postponed crisis, when Pluto ingressed to Capricorn, now has to be faced, as the iceberg reemerges with Pluto on the last degree of Capricorn and about move to Aquarius. Ironically, whilst trying to cause economic crisis and collapse to commodities-rich Russia, the US finds itself having to face the inconsistencies of its own economy.
Real assets matter and the Eurasian powers know it. And so do their partners in Asia, Africa and Latin America.
Increasing gold reserves has become a trend to many central banks in the world. And China leads the list, having bought 24.9 tonnes of gold in February, that being the fourth monthly increase in its gold reserves since China started publishing data in November.
“It’s no coincidence that China has just started to publish their gold purchases again. They are putting the world on notice that they have an international currency”, said Willem Middelkoop, chief investment officer and founder of the Commodity Discovery Fund, in an interview with Kitco News.
Hear the Trumpets
At the change of seasons, marked by the Zero Aries degree, the meeting of Presidents Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin comes as a lighthouse, guiding the multipolar fleet in its great crossing. In regards to trade settlements, the indication is concise and clear: besides trading in national currencies, the yuan is the way to go.
Under the cornucopia’s auspices, with a triple exact conjunction at 5º Taurus, the Chinese currency upgrades. It does so informally. But respectability asteroid Juno, joining money goddess Venus, weighs in – and trust is found in the consistency of the economy of real assets.
This astrological configuration relates acutely to the financial and economic dimension and points the way:
Venus (partnerships, material goods, ruler of Taurus, dispositor of the North Node); joined by Juno (asteroid of partnerships, respectability and official relations); conjuncts the North Node in Taurus (pointing to the economy of real assets, and the importance of consistency and reliability).
Moreover, this is not the only auspicious configuration attributing value to the moment of this recommendation by the Russian President. Benefic planet Jupiter happens to be conjuncting China’s Black Moon in Aries (pioneering edge) and North Lunar Node in house of exchange and transactions.
Additional Astrological References
In regards to the strength of the yuan, a couple of previous studies (Beyond the End and Great Mutation) add some interesting considerations, observing the strength and reliability of the digital yuan, the “sublimation”of money, and also the gold ducat, which was created with a similar astrological configuration. As we contemplate the yuan, these studies are worth a brief recap. Two different periods are related:
- China’s empowering Jupiter return in 2020, at the time when the digital yuan was launched;
- and, in a longer time-travel, through the silk roads in the 1200s, we will find two interesting references: Marco Polo’s testimony of Yuan Dynasty’s paper money; and the Venetian ducat.
Both these periods witnessed Jupiter-Saturn-Pluto conjunctions in Capricorn and their following ingresses to Aquarius – we already had Jupiter’s and Saturn’s a while ago; and are now about to have Pluto’s ingress to Aquarius.
Digital Yuan – In the context of the Capricorn stellium, denoting reliability and durability, and China’s empowering Jupiter Return conjunct Pluto, in March/April 2020, the digital yuan is launched. Ready on March 24, only yet to define its final regulation. Effective and publicly announced in April, whilst being tested already in four cities. The digital yuan comes with Saturn’s ingress in Aquarius (Mar 21): changing elements, from Earth to Air – sublimation of money.
Eight centuries ago, a similar sky – Venetian Marco Polo (1254-1324), traveller of the Ancient Silk Roads, when back in Europe after many years in China, brings the news from the East and describes the use of paper money throughout Kublai Khan’s Yuan Dynasty: “…these pieces of paper… everybody takes them readily, for wheresoever a person may go throughout the Great Khan’s dominions he shall find these pieces of paper current, and shall be able to transact all sales and purchases of goods by means of them just as well as if they were coins of pure gold. And all the while they are so light that ten bezants’ [coins] worth does not weigh one golden bezant.”
Eight centuries ago, a similar sky: from Capricorn to Aquarius, from matter to air. Sublimed money – then into paper, now into digital.
Still in Silk Roads time-travel, let’s check out the ducat.
The emergence of a strong currency – In 1284, La Serenissima Republic of Venice began issuing the ducat in gold – against the florin, from its rival Florence; and in response to the devaluation of the byzantine hyperpyron, which until then was used to pay for goods from the East that the Venetians brought to Europe. A new coin emerged – containing 3.5 grams of 99% fine gold of the highest purity that the medieval metallurgy could produce – and became the standard European coin for the next centuries, being imitated by other states.
Same period, same story. The ducat was created with a Capricorn stellium – credibility and durability. In its turns, the digital yuan came with that same configuration, plus the blessing of geopolitics goddess Pallas (right in conjunction), and Saturn crossing into Aquarius.
Fluent Circulation and Consistent Value
The means of circulation tend to sublimation. But the value needs to be tangible, based in real assets.
Although the mentions above refer a lot to the digital yuan, the yuan currency in general relates to China’s empowering Jupiter Return in 2020. No wonder the petroyuan has been gaining traction – the Jupiter Return in Capricorn was conjunct Pluto (signifier petroleum and of power). As Pluto now ingresses in the sign of Aquarius (March 23), China rises in power – and the yuan is an important and strong piece on the geopolitical chessboard.
Other reserve currencies may come as well. But the Chinese yuan already does present itself as a reliable means to by pass the dollar system – and is recommended by President Putin.
Jupiter in Taurus approaches, starting on May 16, and will enhance even more the importance of real assents and all of that which has concrete value and can be relied upon. Expect the value of gold and silver to increase. As bubbles burst and imaginary value deflates, the yuan will show itself to be a reliable reserve currency for the economy of real assets.
